Not-This-Pig

"I can do more today in communications than any conquer ever could of done." Ted Turner proclaimed.  "I want to be the hero of my country."

This quote comes from Ted Turner during his conquest to start network cable.  This quote strikes me as important because of how it relates what used to be important in the past to what is now becoming important.  Ted Turner is describing himself as Alexander the Great, one of the greatest conquerors of all time, while he is just a pioneer in the television industry.  Since the technology era has started to take off, the need to conquer countries has become far less important and it shows in today's society.  All Ted Turner wanted was to be the "new age" Alexander the Great, which instead of being a brutal conqueror, now means to be a innovator in the network cable industry.  It's weird to think how much society has changed when you look at what used to be most important.
