Exploration 8

The article is about how we are cutting basic science research funding, and how even cutting the budget a little could make a huge impact on scientific advances in alternative energies for decades.
The article is interesting because it talks about how even though the research accounts for only about 1% of the national budget it is always one of the first things targeted during budget cuts.  It also talks about how Obama just announced that he is diverting $2billion away from federal gas and oil leases, towards the research to compensate for the lost funding in budget cuts.

  1. In the NASA presentation, we learned how much they actually create in making our daily life more efficient. It's good to know that he is going to give back, but I can think of other things to target other than the science research...
